I’ll never forget when a dude in one of my classes was like “girls don’t have hobbies” and all the girls started listing their hobbies and he was like “I genuinely didn’t know that women enjoyed doing things”

Haven’t you heard? All women do is bitch at each other and worship men - we don’t have time for anything else!

Men think we’re NPCs

once a guy in my computer science class made a remark about how girls don’t listen to song lyrics. he said it as if it was the most natural, unquestionable thing in the world lol

This dehumanisation of women is central to so much of men’s behaviour. If you don’t consider a person a complete human, full with all the attributes, capabilities, and desires, it becomes really easy to exploit and hate them without remorse

Your average human male does not naturally consider women people. We are on the same level as dogs and lawn mowers. We’re things they have and things they use and things they want, but we’re never people.

I remember in middle school a boy vehemently asserted that girls don’t poop or pee. Obviously he knew it wasn’t true, but he would far rather view us as dainty fantasy creatures than actual human beings with normal bodily functions.

Someone asked a few months ago for another book post so here it is. This time it’s going to be nonfiction and a lot of the books will be focused on truth telling, stories of Black people as well as Black women, and simply educating the reader.

[Image ID: A photo of a Black Ethiopian doctor, Dr. Asmamaw, holding a sign in front of a beach in Cornwall, England at the 2021 G7 summit. His sign reads, “I represent the global south who have no voice here. We are dying now from the climate and ecological crises caused by you.” End ID.]

For context: Dr. Asmamaw is an Ethiopian doctor and PhD. He is raising awareness at this year’s 2021 G7 summit of the need for people in the global north to acknowledge & help spread awareness of the dire pandemic conditions in the global south. He also calls out the lack of global south voices speaking up at the summit itself.

Here is a link to the thread containing a recording of a live video where you can see him speak and address these issues. He begins speaking at 40:40. The video is very low quality, but his message is extremely important.

I believe the military’s official account of events about as much as I believe the police when they say “they feared for their lives,” or “thought they saw a gun” …. stated differently, I don’t believe the military or the cops. Not at all.
